IT FOLLOWS

"It Follows" I give a 5.5/10. What kills this otherwise very good movie, is its lack of explanation, its ambiguous ending and the characters making irrational, out of character and unjustified decisions. The truth of the matter is, the movie carries about an 8.5/10 rating up until the very last part of the film. To make an analogy it's like a wrestler being up 14-0 with thirty seconds left
in the match and then making a stupid mistake, getting put to his back and pinned.

I praise the movie in many ways. First the cinematography, costume design, lighting and set design were phenomenal. It most certainly had a late 70's, early 80's feel and tone. While the film did have a few jump scares, they were not cheap jump scares like most modern day horror films. The film didn't rely on jump scares the way "Paranormal Activity" does. Instead the film actually tried to genuinely and sincerely scare its audience, and for that I commend it.

I would love to be able to give this movie a higher rating, because I can see how much better this film could have been, had it had more revision to make a better ending and for the decisions of characters to have made more sense.

Yet I kept asking myself throughout the film, "Why would she do that?" "How in the Hell did they figure that out? Nothing they've said or done has shown that they should know this information."

The film got lazy with its ending. If a sequel follows (pardon the pun) I hope that they fix these mistakes. This film could have easily gotten an 8.5/10 rating from me.
