THE REF: B
A very dark humor, that didn't make a whole lot of sense, but I enjoyed it anyway. The performances of Kevin Spacy and Dennis Leary, helped me to overlook some of the film's flaws. Character choices were rather nonsensical at times, but the script made up for it in other ways. In particularly with clever scenes, that worked hard for payoffs, rather than just giving it away. The scene with the mother, is what happens when great writing, great directing and great performances come together.
This would otherwise be an A, but I had to knock it down to a B because I don't care what world you live in, when someone points a gun in your face, that you find out later was loaded, you're not going to think of that person as a friend a few hours later. Movies don't necessarily have to be realistic, but once their world's are established, then the rules must be abided.
