LEPRECHAUN ORIGINS

"Leprechaun Origins" 2.5/10 - A very clichéd same as the rest, basic set up modern day horror film. Whether it's the Leprechaun, Jeepers Creepers, Thomas Hewitt, or whoever, it's the same basic characters of a tough guy, a sensitive guy, a dimwit and a brave, intellectual heroine. As did fans of the new "A Nightmare on Elm Street" my main problem with this film is that I enjoyed the original "Leprechaun" series tongue in cheek humor. I appreciated the intelligent, sarcastic and sadistic Warwick Davis version of the Leprechaun much more than I did this one. Character choices throughout the film were questionable and underdevelopment of the characters was the films major flaw. Usually either the protagonist become interesting enough to where you care about them and want to see them overcome the monster or the antagonist is interesting enough to where you want to see him devour all of the uninteresting characters one by one. The film failed to do either. Minus a few interesting kills, this film is most certainly dismissible
